Jeanne Kwak
is a valued member of New People's Church English Ministry. She's been
with NPC since 2002 when she would visit during her college breaks.
Jeanne currently resides in da Boogie-down (aka, the Bronx) and works as
a Legal Assistant for the law firm
Sidley Austin Brown &
Wood. She went to high school at the renown
Bronx Science,
and graduated from Cornell University in 2003 with a degree in
Policy
Analysis and Management. Those who know Jeanne will tell you that
she's extremely thoughtful, accommodating and genuine -- always eager to
help out a friend and generous with her time. They'll also tell you
that she has a strong interest in government, U.S. foreign policy and
today's most pressing social issues and current events. She's always
up for a good time -- especially if there's food involved! You can read
more about Jeanne below, and even send her a message.
Q: What do you like best about NPC?
A: Worshipping with such an awesome and
dedicated family in Christ. And the food.
Q: What's your favorite Bible verse
(and why)?
A: "For you were once
darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
(for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and
truth) and find out what pleases the Lord." -Ephesians 5:8-10
Many people go through life searching for
something that sets them apart or makes them unique. But in God, we are
truly called and chosen to be unique, to be different - in fact, to be
"children of light" in this world of darkness. That's tremendous.
Q: If you could chose another name for
yourself, what would it be (and why)?
A:
Leia. (big Star Wars fan)
Q: What was your first part-time job?
A: Working at
DoSomething, a
nation-wide not-for-profit organization whose mission is to give young
people the tools, inspiration, and opportunity to make a difference.
One of my favorite parts of the job: answering the phones, "Do something!
This is Jeanne."
Q: An interesting fact about yourself?
A: I have the uncanny ability to sing any note
out of tune.
Q: If you were stranded on a desert
island with one famous person, who would it be (and why)?
A: Einstein, because then he could explain the
theory of relativity to me. I think that would take a while.
Q: What book
are you currently reading?
A:
The Guns of August by Barbara W. Tuchman
Q: If you could
spend a year living in another country, what country would you pick (and
why)?
A:
New Zealand,
because it seems totally different from any place I've ever known or heard
about.
Q: Cat person or dog person?
A: Giraffe person. Domesticated animals don't like me.
